Breaking News: AAU adopting NCAA double rules

In a surprise announcement, the AAU has confirmed it will now follow the spirit of NCAA double contact rules for volleyball.

What does this mean for our setters? And for our middles who love to take second-touch sets?

Honestly, we won’t know the full impact until the AAU National Championships later this month. But here’s one clear truth:

If a set would be called a double under the rules, it’s a bad set—period.

Getting away with a bad set doesn’t make it the right decision. And being unable to double doesn’t stop a great setter from finding the right hitter at the right time, every time.

So where does that leave us?

Being a setter has never been about the hands—it’s about the mind. The reads. The decisions. The ability to run the offense under pressure.

We’d love to hear your take—how do you think this shift will affect the game.
